At Finney Family Dental, it is Children’s Dental Health Month every month! The oral health of the smallest (and cutest) members of you family begins right there with you. Mom and dad have the biggest impact on establishing excellent routines—dental, dietary, movement and everything. Your pattern become their patterns.
Remember your dailies: floss once, brush twice, and eat healthy three times daily! Until your child’s motor skills are fully developed, they will need help completing these daily tasks. Your lead in this means everything. Include your children’s oral routines at the same time you tend to your own. It’s a bonding experience and helps reinforce these habits in a non-verbal way. Experts tell us that no one has more influence on our children than mom and dad. Plus, children miss and average of six school days per year, with 2.1 of these days due to dental issues. More studies are needed, but helping your child develop strong health habits from the beginning can certainly keep them smiling pretty and staying smart for the long haul.
And don’t neglect the food! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are important. Keep their diets healthy with plenty of fruits and vegetables, schedule, keep dental appointments, and brushing and flossing daily are the basics to a healthy mouth. We are proud to be your partner in keeping your child’s smile a healthy one and are always here to answer any questions you might have. Together we can help your child start healthy routines for beautiful and healthy smiles for a lifetime.
