2016 marks the 80th year that Finney Family Dentistry has been in business in Marion, OH and they would like to say “Thank you!” to the community. Looking back at eight decades of growth and change of the practice and the community is certainly cause for reflection.
In 1936 when Dr. Harold “Ray” Finney first opened the doors to his Finney Family Dental Practice, The Marion Palace Theatre was still gleaming, having just opened in 1928. Franklin D. Roosevelt was President, Gone With the Wind had just been published, and the Social Security Act had passed the year before.
The Finney Family was growing and beginning what would prove to be the family business when Dr. Robert Finney joined his father in practice after graduating from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. The legacy continued when Dr. Bob’s daughter Kate and son Miles followed in their father’s footsteps and joined the dental practice. Through three generations and three different locations, the Finney’s have been consistent in their passion for family, service, dentistry and the people of Marion and the surrounding communities.
In 2013, Dr. Kate Finney’s husband, Dr. Derek Van Dyke joined the practice, bringing with him the same passion for family, community, and his patients. This year has brought even more exciting changes as Dr. Chelsea George, DDS joined the team in June and the office hired their 12th and 13th team members. Today, Finney Family Dentistry is still committed to their “patient-first” principles that have served them well over the past 80 years. At FFD, patients enjoy the level of customer service and attention you would find in a small town office but with the modern technologies, comfortable facilities, and up to date skills and procedures of a larger office.
When Dr. Robert Finney was asked what has made his practice so successful, he said, “Our success is due to the wonderful support of our community, our staff and my family. My wife and I have truly been blessed. When you begin your career you certainly never imagine your practice will be around for eighty years. My father would be so proud and honored to see his legacy.”
Dr. Robert Finney, Dr. Kate Finney, Dr. Derek Van Dyke and Dr. Chelsea George, along with the entire Finney Family Dentistry team invite you to their office on October 30, 2016 from 3-6pm for an open house. There will be plenty of fun and fellowship for all as they take this opportunity to show their appreciation to Marion and the surrounding communities for an incredible eighty years.
